Girlfriend get-away to Sandestin, Fla.
Put on a feather boa and
wide-brimmed hat and enjoy
hot tea and finger sandwiches
served on fine china...Sit back
and relax as you chat with your
friends and get a manicure...
Spend an afternoon getting tips
from a tennis pro.. .End the day
relaxing in the hot tub as the sun goes down.
Sandestin, Fla., is the perfect location for a girl
friend get-away. No matter what season it is, it’s
always a great time to get together with your closest
friends and head to the beautiful Emerald Coast for a
long weekend of fun and pampering.
Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort is a 2,400 acre
vacation destination located between Pensacola and
Panama City. It has 30 distinct villages and more than
seven miles of sugar-white beaches and blue-green
oceanfront.
Sandestin is only a few hours drive, which makes it
a great destination for North Georgia residents. While
it’s long been a perfect destination for a men’s golf
ing or fishing trip, family reunions and weddings, it
is becoming a favorite destination for girlfriend get
aways. Another plus is that you never have to leave
the property. Shopping, restaurants, special events
and beach activities are all offered. You can also leave
your car in the parking deck and take the convenient,
free shuttle wherever you need to go at Sandestin.
On a recent long weekend, a friend and I started
our trip off with a gourmet seafood dinner at Finz
at Sandestin. The Seafood Napoleon is a delight for
seafood lovers. Lobster, scallop and jumbo lump
crabmeat make for a great choice. For something
unusual for dessert, try to the cherry soup. It is tangy
and sweet and makes for the perfect end to a perfect
meal. Finz is a great spot to watch the sunset on the
beachside of the resort.
The next day was spent in a beach chair underneath
an umbrella. With the waves splashing against the
shore and seagulls soaring overhead, six hours had
passed before we knew it. Reading beach books,
walking along the beach, splashing in the waves and
even napping. It was a great way to spend a Saturday
at Sandestin. Some beach therapy is the best way to
leave your troubles behind and enjoy your get-away.
TEA TIME
Magnolia & Ivy is a great spot for some wonderful
hot tea and delicious, savory treats. This is how we
started our Saturday morning. Co-owner Teri Eker
greeted us with, “Life is too serious. We encourage
you to play.” We didn’t need any further encourage
ment. We grabbed a hat and had a feather boa on
before she returned with our first tea. It’s so much fun
to play dress up with hats, gloves and fur stoles.
We sat down to an antique table covered with fine
china. Eker said the goal is to make the experience
as “queenly” as possible. We enjoyed four kinds of
hot tea, and a tray of scones, sweets, fruit and sand
wiches.

com.
SPA TIME
After tea, we headed to the spa
for some pampering Manicures
and pedicures are great because
you can visit with your friends
as you get pampered. The spa
also offers facials, body treat
ments and massage therapy.
Cosmetologist Ashley McKenzie gave me a manicure
and made the perfect recommendation for a shade for
my short nails. It was my first manicure and it encour
aged me to let my nails grow.
SHOPPING
No girl’s get-away is complete without some time
shopping. With more than 50 retails stores to choose
from, you don’t have to leave the property. Sandestin
is a shopper’s dream with everything from boutique to
designer outlet shopping. I found the perfect pair of
heels for a great price at Raspberry Rhino.
TENNIS, ANYONE?
A group tennis lesson with a pro is great for a girls’
get-away. Sandestin’s Baytowne Tennis Center has
been named as one of the top 50 tennis resorts in the
country by Tennis magazine. It has 10 clay, two natural
grass and three hard courts for day and night clinics.
A group tennis lesson with one of the pros is a lots
of fun for the novices in the crowd, as well as for those
who are more experienced.
Chris Petty, director of tennis, gave us lots of helpful
tips. He wasn’t a bit concerned that I had never even
held a tennis racket. He said I would be hitting a ball
over the net in just a few minutes, and he was right! I
couldn’t believe it. Chris told me how to hold my hand
and stand correctly and, before I knew it, I had hit a
ball over the net.
I left making plans with my friend to start playing
on a regular basis. I’m sure we’ll remember some of
Chris’ advice as he is known as the “rhymer” for giving
tips that are easy to remember.
Ladies will be sure to have a lighthearted good time
as they play a few rounds of tennis. Chris pointed out
that he saw the white of my knuckles when I first went
out on the court. By the end of our lesson, he said I was
much more relaxed.
ACCOMMODATIONS
The accommodations at Sandestin include over
1,700 guest rooms, suites, villas, condominiums and
townhomes. There is something for small and large
groups and the choices include beach side and the vil
lage.
We stayed at the Grand Sandestin, the signature hotel
for the resort. The grounds include a landscaped pool
and hot tub, a great place to relax after a day of discov
ering all that Sandestin has to offer.
Fall is the perfect time to visit Sandestin. The weath
er is cooler, the crowds are smaller and off-season rates
are featured.
Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort is locate at 9300
Emerald Coast Parkway in Destin. For more informa
tion, go to www.sandestin.com.

Hamilton Mill doctor to be
in cable TV documentary
Dr. Nick Tedder, clinic director
of Upper Cervical Health Centers,
is preparing to go to Honduras
next week with 16 other doctors
to share the upper cervical brain
stem procedure and to serve the
sick and less fortunate.
Dr. Tedder has an office at 3635
Braselton Highway, Suite B2, in
Hamilton Mill.
Dr. Tedder, with the Upper
Cervical Health Centers and the
Kale Network Foreign Messengers
Program, was invited to partic
ipate in a multi-million dollar
documentary on upper cervical
health care to air on the Discovery
Channel in 2008.
“The Upper Cervical procedure
is one of the best kept secrets in
health care. Most people have
never even heard of it. So we hope
this documentary will shed some
new light and help give people
their lives back,” Tedder said in a
statement.
Upper Cervical Health Care is a
specialized form of chiropractic.
“Most people associate chiro
practic with neck and back pain.
Although we can help people with
those health concerns, the upper
cervical procedure allows us to
help people with many types of
conditions such as, fibromyalgia,
seizures, migraines, Parkinson’s,
Multiple Sclerosis just to name a
few,” he added.
The Upper Cervical doctor spe
cializes in correcting misalign
ments in the top two bones in
the neck where the brain stem
sits. Not all chiropractors hold a
certification in the upper cervical
brain stem procedure. To check
out these credentials visit www.
UpperCervicalCare.com or www.
Kale.com.
“Our goal with the Honduras
Mission trip is to bring about a
global understanding of the body’s
unique ability to heal itself. We
hope that we can portray this in
the documentary,” Tedder said.
For more information about
the upper cervical brain stem
procedure and Upper Cervical
Health Centers visit www.
UpperCervicalCare.com or www.
Kale.com.
