TYRONE — Following
the recent death of Georgia
District 68 House Rep. Le-
titia “Tish” Naghise, Gov.
The Peachtree City Ele
mentary School media
center was visited by an
“out-of-this-world” author.
Deborah Lee Rose, a chil
dren's author whose book
was sent to the Inter
national Space Station, re
cently visited with
kindergarten and second
grade students.
Rose is the author of
multiple children's books,
including “Astronauts
Zoom!,” which was sent
with astronauts to the Inter
national Space Station and
will be recorded and read to
students from space. Stu
dents enjoyed learning
about a scientist’s life on the
space station and also learn
ing about what it takes to
become a book author, ac
cording to school officials.
Media Specialist Dr.
Amanda White says she was
thrilled to connect Rose
with the young Panthers.
Rose is a close friend of the
Tolawak family at the school
who arranged for the visit
and also donated a set of the
author's books to the library
collection.
Brian Kemp issued an
order for a special election
to be held on May 16 to fill
the vacancy.
Advance/early voting
for Tyrone residents will
be held from 9 a.m. to 5
p.m. daily, April 24-29,
May 1-6, and May 8-12 at
the former police station at
945 Senoia Road in Ty
rone.
If a runoff is needed, it
will take place on June 13.
The candidate filing dead
line is April 5.
On election day, Tyrone
residents will cast ballots
at their regular polling lo
cation, which can be found
by utilizing the Georgia My
Voter webpage or by con
tacting the Fayette County
Registrar’s Office.
Fayette County resident
Marius L. Lehmann, 65, was
taken into custody on
March 24 by Peachtree City
Police and charged with two
counts of child molestation
and two counts of enticing a
child for indecent exposure
and sexual battery, accord
ing to reports.
Authorities reported this
is not the first time Leh
mann has been accused.
“We have two separate
incidents. [The first] in 2021
involved this subject and
the same victim. I can’t de
scribe what happened, but it
was inappropriate physical
touching,” said PTC PD per
sonnel.
Lehmann was taken to
Fayette County Jail.
In an unrelated incident,
PTC PD report the arrests of
two men for first-degree for
gery, which officers said
they believe was “inten
tional.”
According to the report,
officers responded to Home
Depot on Highway 54 re
garding suspicious activity
and the possibility of theft.
When officers arrived, one
male subject fled on foot but
was caught after a brief pur
suit.
Officers began investi
gating and identified the
two men as 32-year-old Jus
tin C. Eubanks and 30-year-
old Kevin B. Terrell.
According to officials,
Eubanks had active war

During its March 28

Planning and Zoning Com

a previously approved pack

The variance request
came from Juan Del Rio,
who presented conceptual
site plans and building el

Planning Specialist Nicole
Gilbert presented the appli
cant’s prior request to the
board.
“In 2021, Atwell LLC re
ceived their approval to con
struct a Sonic at 885 North
Glynn Street. Their concep
tual site plan and building
elevations were approved.
The proposed restaurant
was to be just over 1,200
square feet with a single
lane drive-thru, outer seat
ing, and drive-up parking
with canopy stalls. It was
approved with several con
ditions,” explained Gilbert.
Gilbert described how
the conceptual site plan and
building elevations have
been improved.
“The current request is
for special exception to
allow a restaurant with a
drive-thru in order to con
