Eddie Lee Ivery is coming home.
Eddie Lee Ivery is coming
home. It probably won’t be for
several years yet, but the Thom
pson, Ga., native says that when
he has finished playing football, he
plans on retuning to this area.
Ivery, 27, set several records
playing football at Thompson
; High and at Georgia Tech. In
1978 m as half-back, he helped lead
the Yellowjackets to the Peach
Bown as their all-time leading
rusher, scrambling a record-setting
357 yards in a single game.

Following his graduation from I
Tech as an Industrial Management I
major, the 6’ 1” Ivery was the I
number on draft choice of the I
Green Bay Packers in 1979.
His six years with the Packers I
have been frustrating. Plagued by I
knee and back injuries, last year I
was the first complete season Ivery I
played since joining the Packers. I
Presently, Ivery has been talking E
to people about his future plans. |
“Football is a non-lasting I
sport,” he says, “The normal ex- I
pectancy is four years. I’ve been I
playing for six and still have three ■
years togo on my contract iwth I
Green Bay.” J
Ivery feels that many Black I
athletes get into trouble by not I
having plans for the future. They ■
get out of school and go straight I

ADVISMENT FOR BIDS
Sealed proposals for general contractors will be received
■by the City of Augusta, Owner, at the Office of the Clerk
lof City Council, City-County Municipal building until
112 o’clock Noon at the time legally prevailing in Augusta,
■Georgia on Thursday, April 11, 1985, for the construction of:
IGENERAL IMPROVEMENTS TO YMCA RESIDENCE
BUILDING 924 GREENE STREET
AUGUSTA, GEORGIA 30901
At the time and place noted above the proposals will be
■publicly opened and read.
Bidding documents may be obtained at the office of the
■ARCHITECT, Robert McCreary, Georgia Railroad Bank
■Building, Suite 1008, 699 Broad Street, Augusta, Georgia
130901. Applications for documents together with a deposit
lof $25 per set should be filed promptly witht he ARCHI
ITECT. Bidding materials will be forwarded, shipping
■charges collect, as soon as possible. The full amount of de
posit for one set will be refunded to each general contractor
■who submits a bona fied bid upon return of such set of plans
lin good condition within 30 days after date of opening
■bids. All other deposits will be refunded with deductions
■approximating cost of reproduction of documents upon
■return of same in good condition within 30 days after date

Icent of the base bid. Both a performance bond and a pay-
Iment bond will be required in an amount equal to 100 per
icent of the cotnract.
The owner reserves the right to reject any and all bids
land to waive any technicalities and informalities.
The successful bidder must abide by the Davis-Bacon
■ Act and the Federal Labor Standard Provisions.
