Rebels and Lady Rebels roll up wins
REBEL WRESTLING
by Brad Christian
Kids were back in school
after the turn of the calendar
last week and the Rebels and
Lady Rebels basketball teams
were back in full swing this
past weekend.
First up was a trip to Lake
land to take on Lanier County
in a region battle. The Lady
Rebels led 36-25 at halftime in
a game that was fairly close
through two quarters. The
Lady Rebels never could to
tally shake the Lady Bulldogs
but the game never got really
close in the second half as the
Lady Rebels won comfortably
60-44. Mylashia Yancey fin
ished with a game high 25
points and 15 rebounds. Br-
ishuana Barnes also scored in
double figures with 16 points.
In the nightcap, the Rebels
jumped out to a big lead as
they lead over an overmatched
Bulldog squad 31-14 at the
half. In the second half, the
Rebels cruised along and emp
tied the bench as eleven differ
ent Rebel players scored en
route to an easy 65-43 victory.
Tamorrion Terry finished with
20 points. Jaden Green fin
ished with a season high 10
points.
Saturday night brought
Calhoun County to Ashbum in
a clash between the Cougars
and the Rebels. The Lady
Cougars came in with only two
losses on the season in what
would be a challenge for the
undefeated Lady Rebels. The
Lady Rebels led 26-18 at the
half and slowly kept adding to
that lead as the Lady Cougars
never could make a run to get
back into the game. The Lady
Rebels kept up their strong
play to pick up a big 59-45 vic
tory that will provide a big
boost to the power rankings of
the Lady Rebels. Yancey fin
ished with a game high 23
points while Barnes had 13
points. It was the 23rd straight
regular season win for Tasha
Kimble’s squad.
The boys game would pit
the Rebels against last year’s
state champion in Class Apub-
