The uegroeg seemed to have taken
less interest In the election than
they have taken in one for years,
and the colored vote polled ia uui-

any one expected it would be.
The result ia a gratifying one f,

The Eloctlton in Terrell.
Dawson, Oct. 3.—The election in
this county last Wednesday was
the most quiet one ever held in the
county, ouly about 280 votes bolug
palled.
There wbb no opposition what
ever to the nominees, and of course
Col. Northen and the candidates
for State House offices were elected
and Mr. A. C. Hill was elected
Senator and Mr. Wm. Jennings
representative.
The election for new court house
will be held uext Wednesday, the
8th lust. The advocates of the meas
ure are pretty confident of success
as I believe It will only take two-
thirds of the votes cast last Wed
nesday to carry this electiou. And
this accounts for the unusually
small vote In Wednesday’s election
those favoring the new oourt house
refusing to vote. J. A. F.
IS GORDON DEFEATED?
'The Recorder’’ Correspondent Bays
Ho Surely Is.
Special to Recorder.
Atlanta, Oct. 4.— Everybody
that takes an Interest in politics 1b
discussing the Senatorial question
this morning.
That Gordon is beateu there is no
reasonable doubt uow. He ia, to
quote the sport’s expression,
dead cock in the pit.” There is ab
solutely no hope for nim. His
beBt friends concede it.
The action of the DeKalb Alli
ance shows the policy of the State
Alliance. This, It must be remem
bered, is the Governor's home. He
was living here when elected gov
ernor, and muny of hia strongest
friends live there. It surprised
most people, but X am remindod
here of the significant remark of
Captain Harry Brown made three
or four weeks ago—“Wait until tho
election la over. You will bo sur
prised, I’ve no doubt, to see how
solid the rank ia.”
Here is the DeKalb county reso
lutions:
Resolved, That In view of Gov
ernor Gordon’s late course in his
campaign for the United States
Senator, we request our members
and senator elect to the next gen
eral assembly to use their Influence
to defeat Governor Gordon, and to
vote for no man for that position
who Is notfully in accord with Al
liance principles and measures, and
squarely tfpon the alliance plat
form, sub-treasury and all.
The Troup county Alliance did
the same thing yesterday. Talia
ferro, from which telegrams were
sent Wednesday declaring that it
would certainly go for Gordon,
declares against him.
The Clayton county Alliance
passed anti-Gordon resolutions this
morning. The Fulton county Alli
ance, a* X wired you Thursday
night they would do, passed a aim-
lar resolution Friday afternoon.
The movement Is going on all over
the State. It means thatGordou is
beaten.
