Hoke Smith has been overwhelmingly nominated governor of Georgia.
Front unbiased reports pouring Into The Georgian office, It would ap
pear that Smith has carried 126 counties out of the 116 In the state, up-
holding the claims made by his managers.
At this hour—10:30 o'clock—returns show that he has carried Bald-
tt In, Bartow, Chattahoochee, Chattooga, Clay, Clinch, Colquitt, Coweta.
Decatur. Dooly, Floyd, Gordon. Greene, Hall, Hancock, Haralson, Jeff Davis,
Jefferson, Jenkins, Laurens, Macon, .Marlon. Meriwether, Morgan, Murray,
Muscogee, Newton, Pike, P.lchmond, Screven, Spalding, Sumter, Talbot,
Terrell, Telfair. Thomas. Tift, Toombs, Walker, Walton. Warren, Wilkinson.
Reports from scores of others Indicate that Smith has carried them, but
ha figures are given.
Bussell comes next, with five counties in his column, Charlton, Clarke,
Lumpkin, Stephens and Turner. ' •
Colonel James M. Smith carried McDuffie, the home county of Tom
M atson,- by 116 majority. He has also carried his own home county of
Cglethurpe by a safe majority, and Madison county.
Colonel Estlll has only two counties In his column. He carried .hts
own county of Chatham by only 300 out of a total; registration of about 6,-
6uo. lie won Camden county by a narrow margin.
Howell has carried' Dougherty, Fannin, Kilhun and Quitman.

Glenwood, Oa, Aug. 22.—The race
here Is between Hoke Smith and Rus
sell. It Is thought Russell will win In
Montgomery.

Madison, Ga, Aug. 22.—Hoke 8mlth’s
majority Is now 85, with four precincts
and the city to hear from. He can
count safely on 325. Jim Smith Is the
only other candidate voted for.
MARION COUNTY.
Buena Vista, Go, Aug. 22.—Five
country precincts give Hoke Smith 142.
Merlon county will go 6 to 1 for Hoke
Smith.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY.
Alley. Oa, Aug. 22.—With about one

Hoke Smith carried Fulton county by a majority of 1,961 over Clark
Howell. He carried every ward In the city except the elxth and eighth.
