Rosemary Glover Dehnen
HAWKINSVILLE-Rosemary Glover Dehnen, 41, of Hwy. 341 South,
died Sunday, March 19, 1994 in a Macon hospital. Bom in Tampa, Fla.,
she was the daughter of Dudley and Jane (Gantt) Glover of Tampa.
Rosemary was a 911 Dispatcher for Houston County and was married to
Stephen Dehnen. She was also an EMT and a volunteer with the
Hayneville-Grovania Fire Department. Survivors: husband, Stephen
Dehnen of Hawkinsville; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dudley Glover of Tampa;
sister, Duane G. Lewis of Middlesex, N.C.
Services: The funeral was held in the Watson-Hunt Chapel
Thursday, March 24, 1994 at 10 a.m. Her burial was private. The Rev.
Jim Shipley officiated. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations
to: Hayneville-Grovania Fire Dept, 3004 Hwy 341 S, Hawkinsville, Ga.
31036.
Bonnie Clyde Wages
Bonnie Clyde Wages, 75, of 712 Charles Drive died Thursday, March
24, 1994 in a Montezuma hospital. Bom in Union County, Miss., he
was the son of the late Madison and Mary Niblett Wages and was the
widower of Susie Mae Pardin Wages. He was a building contractor and
had lived in Perry the past three years. He was a Mason and a member of
the Scottish Rite and Bissell Baptist Church in Tupelo, Miss. He was a
World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. Survivors: children,
Bety Branch of Perry and Peggy Johnson of Tupelo; sisters, Christine
Hughes of Tupelo, Cordelia Rackley of Pontotoc, Miss., and Beatrice
Jamison of Starkville, Miss.; five grandchildren; and three great
grandchildren.
Services: Will be held Saturday, March 26, 1994 in the Lee
Memorial Gardens in Tupelo with Masonic rites at 2 p.m. Watson-Hunt
Funeral Home in Perry has charge of local arrangements.
Cotton Re-elected

Hospital Authority

of the Hospital Authority of
Houston County in February, A.
Hal Cotton was re-elected as
Chairman effective March 1, 1994.
Cotton has been a member of the
Authority since 1992. As
chairman. Cotton is committed to
striving to provide the best possible
medical care for the citizens of
Houston County at Houston
County Medical Center and Perry
Hospital. "The health care system
is going to change-for the better we
hope-but we need to be as visionary
as need be, and as practical as
possible, to meet the challenges of
the future,” said Cotton.
Mr. Cotton has lived in Houston
County since 1947 and has seen
these medical facilities built from
zero into the excellent sources of
medical care that the county now
possesses. A native of Alabapia,
Cotton received his basic education
in the public schools of Alabama
and he attended the University of
Alabama, and George Washington
University of Washington D.C.
During the early part of World War
11, he was an instructor for the
Extension Division of the
University of Alabama. Mr.
Cotton retired from the Warner

At the regular monthly meeting
of the Hospital Authority of
Houston County in February, Dr.
Carl Beard was re-elected Vice
Chairman effective March 1. Dr.
Beard has been a member of the
Hospital Authority since 1987.
"My goal is to serve the medical
staff, employees and people of the
county by being fair and objective.
Another goal is to maintain
outstanding patient care because
that is the name of the game," Dr.
Beard summarized.
Originally from Macon, Beard
attended Mercer University and
Bowman Gray School of Medicine
of Wake Forest College.
Following graduation, he did his
internship at Grady Hospital in
Atlanta and completed his residency
at Wake Forest. He then received a
teaching fellowship at Wake Forest.
Exchange Club Reports
Strawberry Sale A Success

Members of the Perry Exchange
Club announced this week that their
first-ever strawberry sale was a huge
success.
“Actually, it went far beyond our
expectations,” president Dwayne
Yoder said following his club’s
weekly meeting on Thursday.
“Because of the wonderful commu
nity support and the great quality of
the berries that we received, this
will most definitely become an an
nual event.”
According to Yoder, the club re
ceived approximately 400 flats of
fresh-picked strawberries from a
Florida grower last Friday , but were
actually expecting-and needed
more. The club has since called the
growers for additional strawberries,
but have been informed that the
year’s crop has been depleted.

Mr. Cotton enjoys horticulture,
specifically native azaleas. He is an
active member of Perry United
Methodist Church. Mr. Cotton and
his wife, Loice, have one son, Dr.
Richard H. Cotton and two
grandchildren.

Beard and his wife, Susanna have
three grown children and three
grandchildren. He enjoys golf and
spending time with his
grandchildren.

’Family Fest' Being
Held At MES Today
Morningside Elementary will
hold its first "Family Fest” school
carnival Saturday, March 26 on
Morningside Drive from 11 a.m.-3
p.m.
Snack bar will include hot dogs,
chips, cokes and popcorn. Live en
tertainment will be scheduled all
day featuring Miss Warner Robins,
Suzanne Blythe, doggers, dancers,
singers, Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Hathcock, church choirs and much
more.
